An international star designer dreams up the interior spaces of the hotel being built on Bem tér

December 10, 2021

The world-famous Marcel Wanders studio from Amsterdam is designing the interiors of the hotel on Bem Square in Budapest. The elegant hotel, which will be completed by 2023, as well as the office building built in synergy with it, will preserve its historic façade, thus paying homage to the past and pointing to the future with its services. This concept is also followed in the design by the international studio, whose clients include, for example, Baccarat, KLM and Louis Vuitton.

In the next two years, the former Radetzky barracks, which has been empty for decades on Bem Square in Budapest, will be reborn as a hotel and an office building. The building simultaneously offers flexibly designed "A" category office premises, a stylish boutique hotel, a fine dining restaurant, and a number of services that further enrich the offer of Bel-Buda. The hotel with 127 rooms and 52 parking spaces will be operated by the Intercontinental Hotels Group, which will be present with its unique luxury brand Kimpton. The hotel will have a bar, restaurant, rooftop bar and several event rooms. According to the plans, it will be handed over to the public in the first half of 2024.

" Budapest is enriched with a special five-star boutique hotel that carries on the heritage of the historical past in a way that meets the 21st century in every way. challenges of the century. Behind the monument-like facade is an astonishing but elegant interior, the design of which was entrusted to the world-famous Marcel Wanders studio ," informs real estate development project manager Miklós Biró.

The clients of the Amsterdam design office led by creative directors Marcel Wanders and Gabriele Chiave include Baccarat, KLM and Louis Vuitton. Some of Marcel Wanders' works can be seen in the world's most famous modern art and design museums, such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Pompidou Center in Paris or the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam.

" Marcel Wanders studio's mission is to make even the most exciting dreams come true in the field of design, representing love and passion for life. Our aim is to design exciting, provocative, divisive, surprising, original and uplifting interiors. In this spirit, we are also dreaming up the interior of the Bem tér hotel, " says the Marcel Wanders studio in relation to the project.
